The culminating
assignment for this course was to develop and create a web-based portfolio website.
I
was a bit overwhelmed when I first started working on the portfolio
website. However, after many hours of fidgeting,
trying to figure out exactly what to do and exploring many other website is
developing tools, I decided to create and design my web-based portfolio website
using weebly. The main objective of my portfolio is to “show off” my knowledge,
skill and experience. It is intended for grading by my course coordinator, e-tutors
and for viewing by my colleagues and anyone interested person out there. On my website
I will display and store all assignments, graded discussions, forum activities,
online research, and summary of the course and a self- reflection of how I
designed my website. In designing and
creating this website has helped me see what I have learned and how I have
grown academically, personally and professionally.
Personally, I
think that I have done a marvellous job. I am very pleased with the outcome of
my work and after comparing it with the rubric, I covered all the requirements.
In addition, I divided all the course work into various sections namely: - assignments,
discussions, forum activities, online research, course summary, suggested links
and also a contact page just in case someone want to make a suggestion.I am so proud of my work.
Although I did
not encounter lots of problems but the most challenging part of creating the
website for me was putting in the pictures on the website. With the use of
weebly the pictures were very simple to upload along with the help of my peers.
I have gained knowledge of all the basic
technique in following step/process in developing a website. Now the “sky is
the limit on what I can do.” Building this website has offered me a sense
of ownership knowing that I created my own course work and website.
Furthermore, it thrills me to know that it has been published and can be viewed
and used internationally. Therefore, I have endeavoured to create a website for
parents and students where they can be updated about what is happening in the
classroom, where students can submit their assignments and anything else that I
may want to do – the countless uses are only limited by my imagination!
